Folks who look longingly at the Christopher Reeves movies forget just how corny and borderline gay they made the Clark Kent character.
Worse, they turned Lex Luthor into a bewigged tycoon instead of the mad scientist he always had been.,
Worse still, they broke a basic tenet of all DC comic books once time travel and parallel universe popping was introduced: YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST. Once they did away with that, no one need stay dead. It takes all the meaning out of key dramatic points. It is also illogical. The reasoning was simple. If you could change the past, then Superman would have rescued his parents from Krypton (he tried), but then he would not have been sent to earth as a baby, and wouldn't become Superman. The comic book writers saw where this was going, and simply said "No".
