I knew people years ago when I lived in San Diego who âownedâ (99 year lease) property down in Baja CALIFORNIA (which the US should have annexed in 1848 if for no other reason than for the fishing industry), living in one of those whitewashed high-walled compounds along the coast full of McMansions, with 24/7 armed security (off-duty Policia). Theyâd commute up the coast to their jobs at the naval base or (brain fart⌠the submarine company down by the airport?), and spoke of life there as âheaven.â
Of the handful of times I drove down to Rosarita beach and Ensenada from the highway at least the place looked like a living hell to me.
Just wait until the communists move out of Mexico city and come after THEM, the fat-cat capitalist Americanos oppressing the local population - yeah, I know, itâs like the ANTIFA pansies saying theyâre coming for Mr and Mrs white America in the suburbs which theyâll never (or very rarely - like in Missouri a few years back and Portland) do, but these revolutions happen periodically and, while starting in basements/attics/living rooms of suburban homes, explode in the URBAN centers with alarming regularity.

Mexico city should focus on fixing its water. Even the locals get sick. Once they fix the water they can worry about other things
American manufacturers have opened a lot of facilities in Mexico. So many of their jobs are with American companies. They might want to rethink this.

Mexican Pride has been wounded by U.S. deportations.
Mexicans don't care if they're hurting themselves by expelling American retirees and tourists -- and the dollars they bring. Mexican Pride requires a pushback.
Much Israeli/Palestinian intransigence is motivated by Pride on both sides. So too Ukraine/Russia, and China/Taiwan, and India/Pakistan, and African-Americans' behavior, and ...
And well, it's a rare human conflict, foreign or domestic, that isn't at least partially motivated by Pride rather than by rational reasons.
Airbnbs should be severely restricted and zoned out of residential neighborhoods. Condesa and Roma are two wealthy neighborhoods that most Mexicans couldn’t afford to live in, with or without gringos. This was organized and funded chaos.
