In college, I had Strato-playing friends. Whenever someone rolled snake-eyes, someone would say “Home Run for Yeager”. Steve Yeager was an ace defensively, but was generally around the Mimosa-line hitting.

A great war game by Jim Dunnigan of SPI.

Dungeons & Dragons was first published in the 70’s. Make of it what you will.
Dragonmaster, a trick-taking card game that was basically Coup d’Etat, was a favorite of mine.
Before Panzerblitz, I played the Milton Bradley war-themed classics Tank Battle, Skirmish (essentially a true—but very light—wargame), Broadsides, BattleCry, and Dogfight.

I hope he made a lot of money from “Get Smart,” because he doesn’t seem to have worked much afterwards.

Avalon Hill war simulation games were more high end.
Not commonly played like the others, but yes, those were popular games.

You maybe, but others were too busy trying to make a living after the trauma of Nam.

I can remember Hang On Hardy, and The Great Escape game with the plastic handcuffs that attached to plastic chain anchored to the corners of the board, Which Witch?, The Game of Life, Pay Day, Careers, Don’t Break The Ice, and Ants In The Pants.

Didn’t have time for board games. I was working on my old cars and motorcycles. Oh, and dealing with the girls.

I’m surprised chess and checkers are not on the list.
Don’t they qualify as board games?

Went from Feudal to Avalon Hill. The dice and charts made wargaming more dimensional than a set piece game.

Battling Tops.
Battling Tops were the best! "Tricky Nicky" seemed to spin longer than the others in our set.

All made obsolete by Trivial Pursuit.
I literally took elective classes in college strictly to improve my Trivial Pursuit game.
With friends it was usually six against me. I generally won.

I remember our babysitter breaking that game out in @ 1972 while our parents where out for New Years.
Great fun.
