'Dangerous' Diddy is sent back to jail to await sentencing on two guilty charges after shock split verdict that stunned America

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been sent back to jail to await sentencing after a dramatic verdict day that saw him cleared of the most serious charges he faced - but found undeniably guilty of others.

Combs, 55, had pleaded for mercy and freedom, telling the judge he should be allowed back to Florida to look after his ailing mother.

He was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, which carry a combined sentence of up to 20 years, but was cleared of the top charges - a victory in many senses.

It remains unclear how much longer the rapper, who has already been in jail for nine months, may spend behind bars.

Diddy has not been seen in public since September 2024, when he was arrested on suspicion of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.

No cameras have been allowed inside the federal courthouse.

Today, as the verdict was read aloud after just 13 hours of deliberations, his fans and family cheered and partied outside.

They cleared him of sex trafficking and racketeering, the most serious charges, which could have put him behind bars for decades.

Across town, Cassie Ventura's husband Alex Fine was spotted returning home with their children, holing up inside their house as the world reacted to the trial outcome.

She testified while heavily pregnant, telling the jury how Diddy tortured and abused her for years.

He’s doing federal time. Guidelines say max 20 . I think he’ll get 7-10.

Did James Comeys daughter influence this debacle?

Who was stunned. He should have got a ticket and paid it for taking a ho across the river or whatnot. She was legal age and probably enjoyed the attention. Better than being some back street drug dealers hose bag. She obviously had zero morals. And she is gonna get a big payday if she hasn’t got the money already.

He’d better not get “time served.”

20 is the statutory max. His guidelines won’t be determined until his pre-sentence report is completed (which he’ll have an opportunity to object to any guidelines calculations he disagrees with). It will be interesting to see what it comes to and what the government asks for.

Generally fed time is minimum 80% of the sentence before parole is considered.

They didn’t even go after him for the young children. like it never happened. And we know why.

Oh, no. He didn’t get convicted of the serious crimes. He’s going to get less than 2 years.

20 years is the statutory max for prostitution? You are way off.

Actually you are correct, I was off by being way too low. It’s 10 years max per count and he was convicted on two counts.

I hadn’t read the indictment, so I wasn’t sure what statute they convicted him under. The worst that could happen to him is that the judge maxed him on both counts AND ran them consecutively. Very unlikely, in my opinion.

Disclaimer, federal criminal defense is one of my primary areas of practice. I could have explained better but I was just going off the post I responded to stating 20 (for instance, money laundering has a 20 year max per count. That’s why you always hear these ridiculous news articles saying someone (who let’s say was indicted on 10 counts of money laundering) could “face up to 200 years in prison!” Yeah, not happening 99% of the time.

Anyhow, that’s the deal and I apologize for not reading the actual charges. I was in court all day all over the place and was actually cleaning my garage when I replied. Have a great night and enjoy the 4th.

EACH COUNT—10 years

2 counts served consecutively==20 years.
