Deadly I-20 crash in Kaufman County
What we know:
The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20, just east of Hiram Road.
A total of three 18-wheelers and four passenger cars were involved in the crash.
Texas DPS says the driver of one of the 18-wheelers fell asleep behind the wheel and slammed into multiple other vehicles.
The 18-wheeler first hit an F-150 carrying five people, before crashing into two other 18-wheelers. One of the semis jack-knifed and struck a Jeep Compass, Ford Mustang and a Honda passenger vehicle.
Five people were killed in the crash and several others were injured.
At least one is said to be in critical condition.

Mugshot of the accused.
I assume he survived?
Another proud American?
Undiagnosed sleep apnea?
Our highways are full of dudes who can't speak English and have no idea how to drive the huge trucks they've been hired (very cheaply) to operate.
In the trucking industry, they call these guys the Turban Suburban. (X)
Oops. Wrong reply quote. The rest of the post still stands.
They usually do, sadly.
If he did, he deserves the death penalty.
And no deportation if he’s an illegal. Jail him.
While immigrants are the worst drivers out there, this particular problem about falling asleep is common and not unique to any one group. I owned a heaver wrecker service most of my life and this problem is universal across the board. And the cause is rooted in the government regulated Hours of Service debacle. It is insanely illogical and counter productive in design. Drivers need to get sleep to be safe, but the way it is designed makes absolutely no sense and actually works against safety.
When you get all your meals at Pilot and Love’s...
Undocumented?
In the Himalaya’s, that is known as a Yeti!!
He passed the medical for the CDL?
Yep, they hit a low clearance underpass in my area about once a month because they can't read.
FWIW, I’m not buying the falling asleep story.
Not at 2:40 in the afternoon...
Note the bit about “...working to confirm h7s employer...”
Okaaaay.
Paging Kash Patel...
As long as you have controlled problems like diabetes, you will pass the medical.
I've been sleepy behind the wheel in the middle of the day before. So have you. Everyone takes naps at some point in their adult lives. Thanksgiving is just one very massive example for the nation. Maybe he has a colicky newborn at home. Maybe his kid was in jail and he spent all night bailing him out and yelling at him. You don't know, and it is foolish to assume. Mourn for the dead, and trust the justice system to do their job.
So have I.
But the enemedia and the fuzz seem to be taking the perp’s word for that, don’t they?
I’ve only seen one story that uses the word allegedly.
No info on tech use. Not time enough for labs to be back.
And there’s a very good reason, isn’t there, that the enemedia isn’t using pics of the crash scene.
Folks should get a good look at the absolute carnage.
Meanwhile, the perp’s booking info lists him as white.
And there’s no official statement on his citizenship, his driver’s license status, insurance status, employer...
Fell asleep, my derriere.

I’ve worked all three shifts in my career. Coming home after 1st shift at 3:00pm I’ve had to battle the worst fatigue I’ve ever dealt with. I can’t explain it but it’s real.
I know it’s real.
I just think that in this particular case fatigue had bugger all to do with it.
