Saturday morning, flight trackers picked up a host of stealthy U.S. B-2 bombers that took off from their Air Force base in Missouri and headed west over the Pacific. It was a ruse.
Hours later, a group of B-2s attacked Iran’s most important nuclear sites from the east, defense officials said, hitting well-defended facilities where giant U.S. bunker busters were thought to have the greatest chance of success. President Trump said U.S. submarines firing cruise missiles joined in the attack, striking other key nuclear facilities.
The move allowed the U.S. to get its bombers over Iran faster and with a lower risk of detection. The timing also helped hide the mission’s aim. In the past few days, President Trump has said he would take up to two weeks to decide whether to attack to give diplomacy a chance to work. There had been no order given to ready a B-2 strike, officials said Saturday morning.
The net effect of the maneuvers and communications was the impression that Iran had more time before the bombs came.
“Decoy indeed,” one of the defense officials said of the westward feint that masked the bombers that carried out the attack. “‘Hiding’’’ them and preserving the element of surprise was critical.”
Trump gave the final order to go ahead Saturday afternoon East Coast time at his private club in New Jersey.
“The goal was to create a situation when everyone wasn’t expecting it,” a senior administration official said of the timing of the president’s order.

Trump has already, in effect, handed off Ukraine to the Europeans. And with bombing Iran, certainly now any negotiations over Ukraine are finished. With Trump and the DC deep state focused on Israel-Iran, project Ukraine is officially abandoned.
Federal Government pizza? Uggh. No thanks.
Yes a ruse in many ways. The BIG one was to let Iran THINK they had time to move their enriched uranium.
If they moved it, we watched to see WHERE they took it.

“Thank God President Trump fired Charles Q. Brown Jr.”
Oh, man. I hated that arrogant traitorous prick. He gave me the creeps.
I loved President Trump’s three-and-a-half-minute press briefing after.
He was a man on fire. He looked at least 30 years younger than his actual age.
I think he made his point as clearly as it could be made.
And I think the whole world knows they better not mess with America as long as he’s president.
Amazing...
Particularly when you consider the proclivity of this administration to leak like an old sieve...
Make me wonder if some of those annoying leaks are part of other razzle-dazzle operations...
The wsj has been anti-Trump over the years.
Do better. But, more importantly, be better.
Do you actually read it? If so you have must missed today’s editorial. I doubt you read anything beyond click bait news and dismiss anything you disagree with.
WSJ - “The chatter about TACO—‘Trump always chickens out” - will now quiet down, but the more significant reassessment has to do with U.S. foreign policy. The Obamaites of the left, and lately of the right, counseled that the world had to bow to Iranian intimidation. The best we could hope for was a flimsy deal that bribed Iran with billions of dollars and left open its path to a bomb. They were wrong, and the world is safer for it.
Headline:
“Trump Meets the Moment on Iran - The President bombs three nuclear sites to spare the world from an intolerable risk.”
Most of this forum doesn’t agree with Trump on many things. We voice out criticism. That doesn’t make us or the WSJ anti-Trump because he wrong on a few things.
