Would US entry into this war invite Pakistan, China, Russia, Turkey to join the fun? I’d rather see Trump make sure those bozos don’t get itchy trigger fingers.

Simple. We drop Turkey on Iran.

Regarding other countries ... whether Russia, China, Pakistan, Venezuela, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, Boko Haram, or any number of other belligerent countries and non-state actors ... the way to ensure that they are emboldened is weakness. Weakness breeds contempt.

Biden and Democrats as a rule employ fuzzy logic, or the doctrine of ambiguity, thinking this preserves options. No. The Democrat approach results in war as eventually aggressors come to a line you actually cannot let them cross. If Trump had been re-elected in 2020, Russia would not have invaded Ukraine in 2022, and Iran wouldn’t have had the funds to supply Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis with rockets and missiles to attack Israel.

Having said these, keeping a safety valve open and offering fair terms in negotiation, viewing all countries as potential friends, these things are also important.

Finally, I will say we should hardly ever be in the business of re-building nations. That almost never works. You need to study why nation-building worked in a few places, such as West Germany and Japan after WWII, but only in a few places.

At the White House recently, the Chancellor of Germany thanked the United States for defeating the Nazis during WWII. Good for that guy! What other country looks at the country that beat it in a war as a liberator?

Russia and China may well aid Iran indirectly (intelligence, technical assistance, weaponry, advice etc.) perhaps Pakistan to some extent, but none of them will get directly involved. Turkey will just make popcorn and watch the show, hoping for a Cats of Kilkenny finale.

Considering that Russia assisted in building Iran’s centrifuge plants and reactors, they’re already somewhat involved.
