So much better than today.

If I recall correctly, this was of the time of the “2nd British Rock Invasion”. Much better than the first. I can see several such songs.

Of course with music much is opinion.

Does anybody alive refer to the pop music charts anymore. I doubt it.

I live just South of Nashville.

Parents had old country. Merle, Ray Price, Cash etc. But mom also liked Elvis, Beatles and such. I was a Monkee fan as a kid.

Some country today is so so. .I liked Toby.

Music stopped being made in 1978. Then disco destroyed it all. Plus...the Beatles sucked.

I could pretty much listen to all of that except Sussudio.

Sorry Phil, but that song drove me up the wall.

It was this kind of music that put disco back where it belonged.

In obscurity.

Several of these I despised at the time, but now the nostalgia is so strong I kind of like them.

My 1985 summer was a very weird planet.

You are, I think, being too generous. The cut-off date for me is somewhere around 1970, before the British Invasion completely ruined everything. But as usual, your mileage may vary.

And now a word from Johnny Cash (1963):

EVERY Top 100 (not just top 20) singles and album chart for every week from 1970-1982 is available here, e.g. this one from this week in 1979:

Top 100 singles for the week of June 16, 1979

Some weekly charts have more than 100 songs.

Can't narrow it down to the week of June 15, 1985, for you, but here is the Country chart for that same year:

I lived through disco. The only thing good about that era was that nobody had cell phones so there is no photographic or video evidence that can be used against me.
