I remember as a kid in the mid-60s being completely grossed out by these slimy green chunks in a salad. Now I really like avocados, and I would eat them every day if I could afford it. Nothing like a perfectly ripe avocado with just a sprinkle of salt.

IIRC an old study from several years ago, avocados is one of the few sole survival food sources.
