Us conservatives handle Juneteenth horribly. Every mention of Juneteenth or slavery should be a reason for us conservatives to loudly remind people that we should be glad that the Christian abolitionists won the argument over the mostly pro-slavery "enlightenment" crowd.

Every pro-abortion statement of "It's not a baby, it's a clump of cells. Christians should quit forcing their religion on us." should be replied with the reminder that the pro-slavery crowd said, "It's not a person, it's just property. Christians should quit forcing their religion on us."

There are those who want to replace July 4th with Juneteenth. Ignore the plotters because we can, and should, celebrate both with good conscience. Freedom from the barbarism of slavery is certainly as worth celebrating— by both whites and blacks — as our freedom from the Brits.
