There’s no need to panic just yet, as quantum computers are currently only being used for research purposes, meaning they can only be found in universities, science labs, and supercomputer centers.And those quantum computers are incapable of breaking any kind of encryption at the moment. The reason quantum computing isn't mainstream yet is because the technology doesn't work. Quantum computing still has to overcome its interference, error correction, and scalability problems. A few months ago, the Google CEO said quantum computing is still a decade away, and some physicists say that's an optimistic outlook.
