Wouldn’t be great if campaign contributions could only come from individual citizens who are constituents of the person running. Senators could take donations from any citizen in their state; congressman from their district ; town council nominees from their own town, etc.
This together with ending gerrymandering would give us true representative government. …. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. I can dream.
You’ve hit some interesting ideas there! Thank you.
Interesting ideas. Thanks.
1. Limiting contributions in any way would never pass congress since gleaning as much $$ as possible is why many, most of them run in the first place
2. Im not sure if the Supreme Court would agree to limiting free political speech district by district —- the court would probably say that you have a right to contribute to the congresscritters from other districts or states because their votes impact your life and liberties as much or more than just the vote of your local congresscritter alone.
Still, very interesting ideas— maybe? Thank you very much
