Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., filed a House resolution Tuesday looking to block U.S. involvement in the Middle East conflict between Iran and Israel.

Massie's resolution features numerous Democrat co-sponsors, including progressive legislators like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y.; Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.; and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.

If passed, the resolution would block President Donald Trump from engaging in "unauthorized hostilities" with Iran.

It is the anti-war Congress critters that will look ridiculous if the Mullahs surrender.

It will show they are deeply out of touch with events on the ground.

The War Powers Act is unconstitutional

As I myself have said in this very forum, many times.

I think there is a strong calculation that once Israel cleans out the mouth-breathing IRGC and internal security apparatchiks…and their nuc bomba program controlled by the IRGC political loyalists is left smoking…. the regular military will refuse to klll Irans own people and coalesce around new secular leadership

Please share your in-depth exposure to Iranian culture and religious practice that makes you believe that.

I bet you thought the same thing about the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya, didn't you?

Three strikes and you're out.

You just made my point. Our participation in Vietnam clearly didn’t prevent it.

Based on the way things are going the Mullahs will surrender without our involvement. That’s certainly preferable to the US getting involved.

Of course we were involved and are involved—in all kinds of logistical support.

I guess if the secrets are kept then virtue signaling remains intact.

But I agree with all Constitutional Conservatives who question this rush to war.

How stupid and blind and moronic do you have to be to fail to see that right now is the IDEAL time to get involved, and end the largest state sponsor of terror in human history?
What exactly must happen for the opportunity to be any better than this very moment?
Do you literally need to see millions of people die from a nuclear weapon?

I understand the lunatic morons like Rand Paul clinging to extreme application of ideological tenets in general, but when an enemy has been attacking and threatening and murdering Americans for several decades, is now successfully under attack by an allied nation in the exact same situation as we are, maybe it's time to apply actual logic and real world thought. Waiting for Democrats to authorize anything will obviously take eternity. (I cannot recall who, but I remember one CA Dem openly admitting that he would never vote to authorize military action, even if the US was struck by nuclear weapons. Since Dem approval will never come, and since the most meager military minds would have to admit that RIGHT NOW is the biggest and best opening for ending this 46-year campaign of murder and terror, maybe.... juuuuuuuust maybe... we don't sit and wait for Democrats to suddenly abandon their one and only political strategy of the last decade.

HOPEFULLY Israel can finish the job without us...
and HOPEFULLY if we get involved, it will be without boots on the ground...

But giving power to the Democrats to decide to once again protect those who openly hate and attack American is just insanity.

I can’t figure out why Nixon signed it. Or was a veto overridden?

No one hear argues with Israel defending itself and Iran not friendly to Israel.

But the United States has laws and rules and standards the highest of which is the Constitution.

Franklin Roosevelt was wheeled in the House Chamber to call for a Declaration of War on December 8, 1941 and was given one by Congress.

Since then its been downhill when it comes to following that standard.

Massie has repeatly attacked Jews and is obviously openly anti-Semitic. Why anyone here on FR still give him a second thought baffles me...

How it is to be done:

"The state of war between the United States and the Imperial Government of Japan which has thus been thrust upon the United States is hereby formally declared; and the President is hereby authorized and directed to employ the entire naval and military forces of the United States and the resources of the Government to carry on war against the Imperial Government of Japan; and, to bring the conflict to a successful termination, all the resources of the country are hereby pledged by the Congress of the United States".

LOL if only you knew

Well, obviously I DON'T know (about you), but what I DO know is that every lying neocon in every foreign war fought on behalf of alien peoples has said the same thing about Afghanistan, about Iraq (TWICE), about Syria, about Libya, about Vietnam for that matter, and it has brought us near to ruin.

Maybe your real name is Reza Pahlavi, for all I know.
