Commodore “Boss Ross” was named for Bobby Ross, the former San Diego Chargers (And the Citadel) Head Coach.
Apparently, both Morgan & Wong (the writers/directors) were Chargers fans.
As a Chargers fan from 1979/1980, I have nothing but approval.
I personally was a huge fan of Col. Tyrus Cassius McQueen. Maybe it was the TC, maybe it was the synchronicity of James T Kirk (?)...
The episode “Who Monitors The Birds?” is stunning for the lack of words.
The two episode arc of “Never No More” and “The Angriest Angel” cemented my fandom.
Hell, the pilot had R. Lee Ermey in it - that’s enough for this sailor to say HELL YEAH.
