Republican senators came out firing during Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s hearing on Wednesday before the Senate Appropriations subcommittee on armed forces.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) immediately pressed Hegseth over the Russia-Ukraine war, with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) driving home the point later in the hearing; Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), the top Senate appropriator, scolded the Pentagon’s delays with budget information; and Sen. Lisa Murkowski closed out the hearing by questioning the administration’s focus on Greenland in its Arctic strategy.

McConnell, one of three Republicans who opposed Hegseth’s confirmation, gaveled in the hearing by calling out the Trump administration for what he views as a flat base-line defense budget. He then launched into strong warnings against the U.S. cozying up to Russia in its bid to end its war in Ukraine.

I've never seen McConnell in committee never mind scolding someone. Very interesting.

And of course it's all about their fiefdom Ukraine.

Hegseth is in their crosshairs and will get more stuff dished at him in the days and weeks ahead.

The usual suspects, of course.

I’m glad you noticed it’s a handy list if nothing else but they keep getting re-elected.

Yeah, these few may be Senators but they certainly are not loyal Americans. They all need to removed and imprisoned for their treachery against this country.

I don’t believe that McConnell is running again. I really don’t think he could get re-elected again because conservatives are really on to him now.

Susan Collins gamed the system to get re-elected via the ranked choice voting scam. Otherwise she would have lost.

I hope they all get tossed next time.

Also Sen. Lindsey Graham is so hated now by conservatives who are tired of his deceptive games. Remember how he got booed at Trump rally. I would be surprised if he makes it another round.

He is hitting them in the pocket book. They will not be able to continue to collect their blood money, bribes, and graft.

Bullshit! He is worshiped as a god by the voters of South Carolina. Proof of that is that he is easily re elected by the voters each time he runs for Office.

“This is the ‘30s all over.”

Graham

“We don’t want a headline at the end of this conflict that says Russia wins and America loses”

McConnell

Collins complained about not spending enough money and lack of a budget.

[Our weapons systems are often outdated in the age of highly accurate missile and drone warfare.]

A Democrat asked the cost of modifying the Qatari jet and Hegseth refused to state it.
