Newsom compared to infamous Dem governor who also tried to block National Guard
Fox News ^ | June 11, 2025 | Charles Creitz

Vivek Ramaswamy said he sees parallels between California Gov. Gavin Newsom and another controversial Democratic governor who literally stood in the way of the National Guard and had well-known presidential ambitions.

Newsom is beginning to "resemble" former Alabama Gov. George Wallace in several aspects of his response to Los Angeles' riots, Ramaswamy claimed Tuesday on Fox News’ "Jesse Watters Primetime."

The Ohio gubernatorial candidate noted how Wallace – an avowed segregationist who ran for president four times – forced the hand of President John F. Kennedy by preventing Black students from attending the University of Alabama.

"[Newsom’s] behavior is starting to resemble that of another Democratic governor from U.S. history by the name of George Wallace, who was the governor of Alabama, who famously stood in the school door, blocking the way. Gavin Newsom is blocking the ICE vans. It's the same Democrat-governor playbook."

"The parallels are actually pretty striking, if you think about it: Democrat governors, when you look at George Wallace, he resisted desegregation. Gavin Newsom is resisting deportations. George Wallace wanted segregated cities. Gavin Newsom wants sanctuary cities. George Wallace stood in the school door, blocking the way. Gavin Newsom is blocking the ICE vans. It's the same Democrat-governor playbook."

The former DOGE co-leader said both Newsom and Wallace "dodge[d] the feds and rall[ied] the radicals."

That episode provides a precedent for deploying active duty troops, the 101st Airborne then, Marines now.

The President sent in the 101st Abn Division.

They act like President Trump is doing something no one else ever done. They are either ignorant of American History or lying (I am going with lying).

Comparing Newscum to a segregationist has really gotta be pissing him off. Too bad! Good on Vivek for the comparison.

This should be hammered by everyone incessantly and ad nauseum.

Give Newson the Alinsky treatment and make it stick!

I was noticing the other day that the press seems to be standing within the wrong crowd and are down range...

‘Orville Faubus’

When I read the title I thought he would be the one mentioned.

“illegal aliens now, illegal aliens tomorrow, illegal aliens forever” — Gov. Gavin Wallace

If I had the skill, I would make a black & white (circa 1963) video of Gavin Newsom saying this with cars burning in the background.

Very different reasons and ideologies but similar responses sort of

The were not really racist tradcon and neocon center right to right always tries this tack

But admittedly they might have something this time to some degree

Basically rejecting federal authority

But picking up illegals is a lot different thing than resisting forced integration in schools with huge black populations

And now those schools are mostly wastelands

Producing convicts as much as anything

Racial redress of which an element of open borders will destroy western civilization in time

EEK! Nobody wants to be compared to George Wallace, not even Dems! At least no one old enough to remember his impact.

I hope you were not defending George Wallace, who was a Democrat, by the way.

Obviously, Eisenhower and JFK did the right thing in the '50s and the '60s.

Democratic Cities are failures nowadays. But we have to blame the party for that because they refuse accountability.

Remove the Democrat from power in those urban strongholds. You will see the cities transformed overnight.

It worked when Rudy Guliani became the Mayor in the '90s. Now that he's no longer in charge, the city is starting to have problems again.

Surprisingly he made a huge change in life before death and made amends for his previous errors. I met him a couple of times.

I didn’t know about that. I guess he had plenty of time to sit and think.

“ we have to blame the party for that because they refuse accountability.”

Not only is the Democrat party refusing accountability, they have taught at least two generations of their constituents that anything that goes wrong in their life is “somebody else’s fault.” Personal responsibility is anathema to Democrats.

I’m not sure I’m seeing forcing integration literally at the point of a bayonet the same as protecting federal buildings from illegal alien rioters. One of these is not like the other.
