During an appearance on CNN on Monday, former Univision anchor Maria Elena Salinas expressed her disapproval of the Trump administration for its handling of deportations in California.
While making her point, she told “NewsNight” viewers that California was once part of Mexico, adding that all of the Southwest was “Mexico.”

Can Christians ask for getting back Constantinople and Haga Sophia?

Look at at how generous we were in the Treaty of Guadalupe. Compare it to the vindictive Treaty of Versailles. Relations between the U.S. and Mexico haven’t been perfect, but we have worked most things out. In comparison, the Treaty of Versailles lead to another and even worse war within a generation.
I would say much the same thing about our entire hemisphere. Again, not perfect. But, relatively peaceful now for about 200 years following our independence, both in the North and in the South, from Europe. This is a record we Americans and Americanos should be proud of.
Yes it was part of Mexico.
And it was part of Spain before that.
And it belonged to the Indians before that.
And it doubtless belonged to other Indians before that.
Welcome to the world.
Yeah, except we bought it from Mexico, and therefore we own it legally. She left that part out.
WONDERFUL! A remake of 1969s, “Viva Max!” Those wacky Mexicans. We need to double the security guards at the Alamo and Disneyland.
“You know that beautiful home you live in? My ancestors lived in it way back when it was just a tumbledown shack. Since then your ancestors have improved on it and made it into a showplace. I demand you give it back to me because my ancestors once owned it.”
Dear Maria, time is not static. America won, Mexico lost.
The key word being “once”. 😉
Bitchers? What bitchers? We don’ need no stinkin’ bitchers!
I’d be happy to give California back to Mexico. It is a sh-t hole just like Mexico.
The US was very generous to Mexico after we totally stomped them in the Mexican War. Not only did the US pay for the land Mexico ceded (when we didn’t need to pay a dime — we WON the war), we also gave them their country back. The US army occupied Mexico City at the end of the war and could have taken all of Mexico but voluntarily withdrew instead.
And Mexico was part of Spain, and before that it was owned by the aztecs and other Indian tribes. What’s your point?
Moral of the story - You only own that which you are willing and able to defend using whatever means at your disposal!
Never forget that - it applies to EVERYTHING!
Ever notice how some people in life are gimme dats and others like to put in the effort and earn what they get and how there tends to be more of the former in certain “groupings” of people? Cultures are different which is why bowing at the altar of diversity and inclusion is against the natural order i m o.
“Mexico used to be part of Spain.”
Leftists like to play a game called “freeze the clock”.
The entire planet was once occupied by Neanderthals etal.
If we stop playing the “freeze the clock” game we would find some Neanderthal DNA, create some Neanderthals, and deed the entire planet to them.
What was Mexico before it became Mexico?
WAS being the operative word here. Aztlan is no more and has not been a thing for almost 200 years. Deal with it!!!!
The territory was claimed by Mexico for less than 20 years.
The claim was based on a few scattered Roman Catholic missions and no control over the actual territory.
Mexico willingly abandoned its claim to the territory with the the Treaty of Guadalupe for which it was paid $15M plus assumption of debt.
Further land was acquired later.
If they want the southwest part of the US, it should be made clear to them that they lands they demand would be returned to the condition they were in before they were ceded to the US.
That means no buildings, roads, bridges, factories, hospitals, airports, railroads, farms, dams, and the like. Make it as barren as it was originally, and see if they like it that way.
If I remember right, the whole Southwest was then settled by about 20,000 Mexican citizens. They all were offered US citizenship and full use of their properties. The few, who decided not to take this sweet deal and to leave for Mexico were reimbursed for everything they left behind.
