Five women from across England who were groomed and abused as children or young adults have told BBC Newsnight about the ongoing impact it has had on their lives.
All were targeted by adult men, mainly from a British Asian background, often against the backdrop of chaotic upbringings.
They shared their stories on the same day the government confirmed the publication of a review into grooming gangs has been delayed.
Kate Elysia - not her real name - was abused by a gang of men of Pakistani origin in the Shropshire town of Telford.
She was first raped when she was 18, shortly after moving out of her family home into a bedsit, and has previously estimated she was attacked by more than 70 men.
Kate said her attackers treated her like "she was nothing" and that they "wanted to turn me into what they wanted me to be, so they could justify abusing me".
She said her abusers would harass her on her doorstep and send men to her home asking for sex.
"The abuse was almost daily," she said, sometimes "multiple men a day".
Kate, now 36, gave evidence to an independent inquiry, into gang grooming in Telford, which found that 1,000 girls had been targeted and "nervousness about race" led to abuse being ignored for generations.
Two of the men who abused Kate - Mohammed Ali Sultan and Shahmeel Khan - were convicted of rape and sexual assault.
Sultan, who was considered a ringleader of the gang, was released in February by the independent parole board - a decision the government said it was "disappointed" by.
Khan was approved for open prison conditions in April.
Kate is calling for the government to block her abuser from going into a low-security prison

Meant to say “what makes US think...
Yeah...media is the same the world over...wrong, leftist and demonic
Pretty sure she means men would stand outside her door and “hurl epithets”, as the Brits say. Not that she would let them in.
British Asian???
Yup...you can bet that the BBC made it clear...repeatedly...that it was bad that those Liverpool men did those things.
You best believe it happens here too. This isn’t isolated to the UK.
Weak, sissified men allow this evil to happen. Britons appears to have no balls left.
After Tommy Robinson raised a stink for years on end, finally they put around 6 of them in jail—for a couple of years. Meantime, they cooked up accusation after accusation against Tommy and have persecuted him and his family mercilessly for years and years -- much longer than any of the men who ruined little girls' lives.
The girl in the OP was 18 when first abused, but the majority of the victims were barely into their teens -- some as young as 11 or 12. They were raped, they were drugged, they had forced abortions, and the police did NOTHING, because race. Even when Hindu or Sikh girls were targeted by these muslim rape jihadists and their parents complained, the police did NOTHING.
The entire British government who looked the other way while this was going on and WAS PUBLICIZED BY BRAVE WHISTLEBLOWERS FOR YEARS, should be in jail, from those particular Prime Ministers (Blair, Cameron, etc) on down the line.
The rapists threatened to rape, maim or kill the mothers, fathers and particularly the little sisters and brothers of the females they were abusing. This was happening in small towns where everyone knew who or where everyone was. Social workers, teachers and any other kind of mandated reporters were threatened. Journalists and social scientists raising the alarm were doxed and cancelled. The police did NOTHING.
This has been a scandal for almost 20 years. There is plenty of info online about when the English victims complained or tried to fight back, they were then persecuted by their government. It is worse than the Soviet Union there.
