White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told the press on Monday that President Donald Trump is "open" to the idea of having a meeting with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
Her remarks coincided with the release of a peace memorandum from the Kremlin, which outlines steps for a ceasefire and conditions for settling what they defined as the "Ukraine crisis."
At the same time, Leavitt confirmed previous reports that Trump is likely to have a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week.

Far too much time and effort is being spent on the conflict in west Asia. We haven’t even broken our first million of deported illegal aliens yet and the clock is ticking. Four years will be over before you know it.

Trump has to buy time. A petulant Graham could refuse to vote for the budget bill if Trump outright rejects Zelensky.
A few weeks for the budget bill and then Trump can . . . be Trump in whatever direction that is.
