Atlantic hurricane season starts with nameless storm for fourth year in a row

For the fourth consecutive year, the Atlantic hurricane season kicks off without a named storm forming before June 1, and there are no immediate signs of formation.

The Atlantic Basin hurricane season spans 183 days, running from the start of June through Nov. 30.

Historically, the basin’s first named storm tends to form around June 20, with an average season producing around 14 named systems.

However, in years that are expected to be busier than usual, named storms generally need to form before their letter’s climatological date to meet seasonal projections.

“Atlantic hurricane season starts with nameless storm for fourth year in a row”

Starting a Hurricane Season with a Nameless Storm might be a sign of Climate Change...and now 4 years in a row. I’d call that conclusive evidence.

Once again a Lake Wobegon style prediction of above average number of storms.

And what's up with the headline. The story says that again there is not a named storm before June 1, but the headline talks about a "nameless" storm like there's some little cyclonic bastard out in the ocean.

Global warming -

When in danger or in doubt.

Mask up.

VAX out.

Scream and shout.

Trump fired the Weather Bureau guy who named hurricanes. That’s how bad it really is!

Maybe the nameless storm is confused, and doesn’t know what to identify as.

“So mask up and hide or what?”

I’m sure there’s a vaccine.

Following green energy principles is certainly helpful. And you should feel guilt, shame and blame for screwing up the environment so much

That’s helpful

I think that title is on crack. there's no storm yet.

The quiet start certainly raises questions about when the first named storm will form.

This is a misleading headline, the Atlantic season is not starting with a “nameless storm” — it is starting (on June 1st) without a named storm. Which is perfectly normal, very few years have had a named storm in April or May.

A disturbance is being monitored in the eastern Pacific off the coast of El Salvador.
