The threats are getting more sophisticated.
Hasn’t that been proven by the DemocRATS?
And people are getting dumber. Not a good combination.
How about evil humans using “AI” as a psyop, cover, and tool for harm?
I was a financial services regulator 25 years ago. At a weekly meeting to discuss if any of our current examinations were worthy of an attorney, one lawyer offered an observation that Guy X should not be escalated because “it sounds like he was being stupid, not evil.” My response be came known as “’The _______ [my last name] Doctrine”.
If it was stupidity, we gotta get him out of the business. An evil guy will control themselves sometimes because they don’t want to get caught and keep on being evil. The stupid guy is going to hose everyone he runs into because he can’t help it... he’s stupid...”
The danger of AI is when humans put too much trust into AI produced information.
The decline of humanity is going to be on the back of loss of spirituality and purpose. It’s the meaning in our lives that drives us. Being on snapchat or instagram or tiktok does not give meaning to your life. And, doing that instead of exploring the world, reading, and thinking about things will lead to people being more ignorant - as you alluded to.
I have no doubt this is happening. It is probably the biggest danger: Evil humans using AI for their own agenda, free of any oversight or regulation.
What if incompetent humans are the ones programming AI?

“Programmed by fellas, with compassion and vision.”
Trusting AI is about as retarded as trusting a google search.
I’m not sure how much regulation will help if the state is the biggest threat with it.
;)
Artificial intelligence will never replace natural stupidity.
” And people are getting dumber. Not a good combination.”
And AI is going to make them even dumber. And it is going to happen relatively overnight. Us it or lose it...
I asked Grok the other day to list my state representatives and their party affiliation. There are only 7 of them. It got one wrong . It listed a previous rep who had been primaried out. If AI can’t answer a really simple question like that it’s basically useless. I challenged it and it said, oh yeah, you’re right. Sorry.
“Trusting AI is about as retarded as trusting a google search.”
Absolutely. Yet they are hell bent on incorporating it into every aspect of our daily lives. They are already trusting it to manage critical systems and databases they should not.
I am glad to see you are also intelligent enough to be skeptical about this trend of trust... I absolutely think there are some lines that need to be drawn and not crossed.
I worked with some of the largest databases and data centers ever created, and I watched “AI” grow from “big data” to interesting results, but none of it suggested anything other than just a more sophisticated search engine with better data sources. AI is not intelligence, and cannot it think. It does not discern, it only regurgitates.
