In Africa we have the extended family to mitigate some of these cases. We don’t do much extended family in the USA.
Are you implying that the "extended family" wouldn't inflict severe social stigma upon the loose woman? That they would freely squander their hard-earned resources with a licentious sister, daughter, or granddaughter - thus robbing their legitimate progeny of those resources?
Yes, please do tell us how "you extended families in Africa" deal with a 31-year-old husbandless woman who shows up with two little children in tow and the third one on the way! We're all ears!
Regards,
We used to around where I was raised. In fact, we took in relatives who were down on their luck from time to time until they could get back on their feet when I was a child. Every family I knew of did.
I am thinking many of these children were born solely to be a form of income, not out of love. Don’t get me wrong, I am sure they love them but the US gives mothers a home, food, paid bills and takes care of medical instead of making the fathers step up. Uncle Sam is Uncle Daddy in America. The women never have to get a job as their ‘job’ is birthing babies for money. Sad and terrible. FLBJ.
