The very fact that Kiev is still standing and not burned to the ground means Putin isn’t targeting the city. The few civilian deaths is also a testament to Russian desire to not rack up civilian deaths. If Russia wanted, he could have made Kiev into a city of ruins. Many of the civilian strikes are from drones knocked out by anti drone measures, and falling to earth in many randome places. It is a horror show—true. It is war. I don’t want to see Americans having to live under threat of attack. As my Hippie friends once chanted; “Give Peace a chance!”
The fallacy you're committing is often referred to as the relative privation fallacy (Latin: "fallacia relativa privationis"), also known as the "not as bad" as fallacy or an "appeal to worse problems."
You are dismissing the death and destruction caused by Putin's invasion and attack by saying "Well, it could be worse!", implying that since the situation could be more severe, it shouldn't be considered problematic.
The underlying flaw is that the existence of greater wrongs does not negate the issue being criticized — rather, it still stands as a problem on its own merits.
Such twisted reasoning is not worthy of a true American patriot! I implore you to reconsider your position and acknowledge that Putin is a war criminal.
