The collapse of a glacier in Switzerland resulted in the village of Blatten being buried in ice, mud, and rock, leading scientists to question climate change's possible role.

It’s an IQ test, anyone who bellows ‘climate change’.
Gravity. There’s a word we all use for it.
Oh, and if you watch the whole video, they had forewarning of an impending event.
Same with having a home next to a volcano and then one day being amazed lava is flowing through your living room.
LOL.
I usually put a little star at the beginning of all the important things on my to-do list.
They lost me when they started blaming CLIMATE CHANGE.
how about they start with an easy one like effects of gravity over time?
If only those scientists had been in Blatten.
Reuters report on this:
“A deluge of millions of cubic meters of ice, mud and rock crashed down a mountain on Wednesday, engulfing the village of Blatten and the few houses that remained were later flooded. Its 300 residents had already been evacuated earlier in May after part of the mountain behind the Birch Glacier began to crumble.”

Yep, there is a large debris field at the bottom of the mountain that is seen in the video BEFORE it gets hit by this avalanche or whatever they are calling it.
The fastest changes are usually right after interglacial maximums. They can also follow after major asteroid hits or volcanic events (although the latter can vary depending on what’s tossed into the stratosphere the most, dust, SO2, or CO2.)
Would you define the temperature drop after Tambora as “weather” or “climate”?
Tambora blew almost a mile off its top. Pretty impressive...
Yeah, I’ve been following this a bit, ever since the 1st (also fairly impressive) vid where part of the mountain shifted downward a bit. It was hoped there would be several more smaller slides, but, a (really) big chunk decided to let go all at once. There will be a new lake now, so, I guess the question is whether to work with what they’ve got, stabilize flow over / through the debris field, and build a resort on the lake, or, cut through the debris field and gradually restore normal flow of the river (a big project).
