The Hamburglar didn’t start the trend. Chicago was gangster ridden for decades before him.
This makes me grimace.
My dad had restaurants in many cities in the country, president of the corporation. I worked as a waitress at one the summer I was 18 because I wanted something expensive he wouldn’t buy me. Employeeys were told not to tell anyone I was the boss’s daughter so they’d leave reasonable tips.
I took the train downtown from our suburb, walked several blocks to work. Perfectly safe then, even in so-so neighborhood near the station.
Sad and infuriating to know I’d be raped or murdered doing that today. Literally brings tears to my eyes.
Shake it off!
Didn’t the Hamburglar get killed in a drive by?
