“In n Out — far friendlier service and better food.”
Hammer I thought “a bit of the ol’ In & Out” was a line uttered by Malcolm McDowell from “A Clockwork Orange”
I am sure the Mayor will be fine with this.
My dad had restaurants in many cities in the country, president of the corporation. I worked as a waitress at one the summer I was 18 because I wanted something expensive he wouldn’t buy me. Employeeys were told not to tell anyone I was the boss’s daughter so they’d leave reasonable tips.
I took the train downtown from our suburb, walked several blocks to work. Perfectly safe then, even in so-so neighborhood near the station.
Sad and infuriating to know I’d be raped or murdered doing that today. Literally brings tears to my eyes.
Once firmly established with laws, institutions, cultural norms, and saving the world from the krauts and the japs, the U.S. embarked on a mission to import the absolute worst humanity has to offer into the cradle of our post WW2 civilization. Behold the fruits of that mission.
🎶“Hamburgers, shakes, and fries… Fight hand-to-hand!
No other place brings it like McDonald’s can!”🎶
When Ray Kroc was the boss McDs had a policy of never shutting down permanently a restaurant. They might move down the street a block or two and build a new place. In the late 1970s a McDs was built on the very edge of the Cabrini-Green housing project in order to satisfy the needs of the “community”. After years of constant violence and robberies associated with that store...it was the first to bite the dust in the late 1980s I believe.
I'll start.
O, the huge manatees!
Shake it off!
You can’t have nice things. Or even mediocre things, as long as rabid animals are allowed to roam free.
Did you mean fires? 😆
> I worked as a waitress at one the summer I was 18 … <
You raise an important point. Fast-food places like McDonald’s provide employment for kids just starting out, and for adults who can find nothing better.
What will they do now? Go on welfare, I suppose.
their headquarters were there and Hamburger U. Their training center.
At one time the University of Chicago did consider moving out of the Hyde Park neighborhood in Chicago. I believe a move to the western suburbs was considered.
you arent kidding. worked with kids from slum families. their meal at least twice a day was micky d’s
AI is fun. Not nearly as creepy and off-putting as it was not too long ago.
I don’t know where you live, but here the McD’s are clean, polite, and the prices are in line. There are lines all day. I think it depends more on demographics.
Liberals freaked out over Vance's Munich speech. Just wait till they read the State Department's Substack.
No Big Macs for Big Mike.
I recommend that if you haven’t already that you watch the Mike Benz links I just posted so you will know why.
