Ah, yes.... the miracle flights. I worked many - the elderly parents would go visit their kids and all would be mostly infirm, vulnerable and fragile - and in wheelchairs. But, by God when we landed in Florida, their home planet, they would all jump up like Olympic athletes, fighting to be the first off the plane with nary a wheelchair in sight.
Sorry to hear that! Repeated or constant exposure to experiences of that nature can have a jading influence upon one, I expect!
I understand this phenomenon as a concept ("Went to college for a semester and a half" - That's a "Sopranos" reference!), but have not been forced to expose myself to it on a regular basis!
