The Russians have a volunteer fighting force in Ukraine and if wasting lives was a reality, there would not be 1.7m Russians under arms 3 years later in the “Western Meatgrinder” when Russia started with 540K around the world. The Wall Street Journal had an article last year about the mentality of the families of those fighting and dying for Russia in Ukraine. You can find it
here. A Russian from the hinterlands who fights for a year and is then killed can have his family promised a payment of $150,000. The situation implied in the article, but not explicitly stated, is that the surviving family is actually happy about the outcome. Of course, the families are not going to give a quote to the WSJ saying just that, so one has to infer their motivations. The WSJ calls it the "deathonomics" of the war.

Yup. THey need the US to fight and die for them. They plan to use the US the same way they used Ukraine to get WWIII going. They have let their military atrophy for a reason - it's America that must shed blood for NATO's aspirations. I see one of the NATO nations eagerly lifted weapons restrictions on shipments to Ukraine. They are really getting excited now. WAR! WAR! WAR!

this is all performative theater from trump. he understands very well what is going on.
trump has to deal with a large faction in the US that will happily go to war with russia. reportedly congress could pass veto-proof sanctions now.

Patton was right Trump should stop treating him as a legitimate negotiator. Impose the strictest sanctions on him and pour as much military equipment into Ukraine as possible. Wow! I had no idea that Patton said all of that before he died in 1945.
