Whistling in the dark. Rand Paul will never be POTUS. Take it to the bank. He ran once and dropped out in IOWA. He is totally inept, hasn’t proposed a bill that passed. His job is to work with the other members of Congress to pass legislation advancing America’s interests & to help his constituents. He can’t do that job effectively so he acts as a gadfly.

Interesting response by Rand. The question now is why hasn’t Trump sent the Rescission Bill?

I'm having problems processing this in my pea brain. I thought Congress controlled the purse strings. Can't the House of Representatives pass a budget bill with whatever cuts they want, then pass that along to the Senate? If the Senate also approves it, pass that to the President?

But this response by Rand says that the President has to be the one to begin the budget bill process. Unless I'm misunderstanding something.

I don’t believe that for a second but as I say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. We will see how the Doge cuts progess. There is no harm in the American people pushing & demanding because it acts against the tendency for Congress critters to backslide & protect their slush funds.

I think most folks judge Musk by themselves and that is not a good yardstick. He is a very focused and driven genius. He committed to getting Trump elected and to setting up a system to cut fraud, waste & abuse. HE has done that and updated the data collection, accounting systems of the Government, exposed graft & corruption. Many things have been set in motion. They will need time to play out. Musk is a patriot as is Trump. Neither is looking for a payoff or payout.

You are correct on any new spending.

But if the Congress has allocated funds in one bill, and then the President isn’t going to spend that money he has to go back to Congress and ask for them to rescind the original funding by the amount saved.

That is what Paul is referring to. Without the rescission, the Executive branch is compelled to spend the money as directed by Congress.

Well if what Musk has done is not implemented then the GOP will be proven to be as corrupt as the Democrats and I can assure you the Democrats will remind Voters of that..Add this to the mix the Left will be out for blood as they have a cause now as the GOP barely held Congress and won a majority...Another point I have heard from people is Trump is more concerned about World Peace then the Voters who elected him, example of that was this Big Beautiful Bill where the Elderly got the short end of the stick..if not quickly corrected will come back to bite...Time will tell.

Musk is no doubt a patriot but he was also covertly installing Grok on federal software and making end runs around the process to avoid scrutiny of paying Elon’s company directly etc.

Send the “rescission” bill, Mr. President. Put it in Congress’s court.

This is trash talk. There has to be some weighing and analysis before buying into fake news.
Musk spent billions of his own $ to benefit the Country that he loves. There is no way that spent money could ever be recouped.
Musk spent months working 12-16 hours a day living in a small office to get the Nation’s books in order. He gave starlink systems free to communities & Countries in need. He is the richest man in the world...
...and you believe “he was also covertly installing Grok on federal software and making end runs around the process to avoid scrutiny of paying Elon’s company directly etc.”
That is completely at odds with reality. If he installed Grok (which IDK) it was to manage the very complex task of unravelling the Country’s books. BTW this fake news story is being repeated simultaneously on all the usual fake news sites today, a clear sign of a politically deployed media campaign.

Elon Musk@elonmusk·May 21
Legacy media lies licentiously

Rand has shown his colors once too often for me to trust him anymore. I doubt he is serious about the debt. He appears to be using it as an excuse to do nothing. Sending torpedos into the Trump agenda for the deep state.

There is a lot of good in this bill, it sets onto law much of the best of the Trump agenda. It will set back the deep state and the dems for a decade. It will help reset the economic damage the dems have done to all of us. It will be a major step to the reset of our country.

If it doesn't pass, we will get a huge tax raise which will tank the economy, making the deficit even worse.

Rand probably knows he can pass this bill as a first step, and it will help by bringing us growth and prosperity. He likely knows he can come back and deal with this debt as a single issue later this year. Yet he persists on undoing it for a trojan horse issue.

We'll see what he does, but for now he will have to prove to most of us he cares about the real crisis we are in, that he cares to help America out of this pit rather than grandstand and fiddle while we burn. Until he proves otherwise, he deserves nothing. No attention, no kudos, no support.

He is John McCain II, siding with the dems to sabotage America, nothing more, nothing less.

Hey Rand, how did the interstate get to one trillion while YIOU WERE SENATOR UNDER BIDEN?

You can thank Jerome Powell for that. Perhaps you should learn the proper role of the Federal Government and the Federal Reserve before posting?

Perhaps in your naivety, you give Senators too much credit in their ability to legislate intelligently.

I do no such thing. Every single Senator and Representative are crooks until proven otherwise.

Receipt: $37,000,000,000,000+ in debt and counting. The greatest wealth transfer in the history of the world. They're ALL guilty.

Care to try again to detract from your ignorance?

Do you think maybe they are busy getting agreement on the BBB. They have been meeting all through the night on several occasions. The left has been usuing all the time thay can to delay the process.
It is eminently reasonable to get the BBB done. The Doge cut bill is being packed and is ready to advance next according to many Congressional voices.

“I have been told that White House OMB is working with the House Appropriations Committee on a rescission package that we are supposed to see after we get done arguing with each other over this reconciliation bill - Trump’s big beautiful bill.”

But Bigmouth Rand was NEVER effective in persuading his compatriot Senators and CongressCritters to follow baseline budgeting. Nuff said.

They GOPe is every bit as corrupt as the Democrats. There may be 3 or 4 ok ones but mostly it’s pure corruption. By February all these fools were thinking about was their next election. Any movement will happen by and because of Trump. Once he’s done start. Collecting BRICS and bitcoin.

Would it not been wiser once the BBB was passed in the House to already
have the Recission Bill ready to pass as well?
To offset the claim that the BBB does not cut enough spending to make
a meaningful reduction in our National Debt?
