Rand Paul responding on twitter regarding Trump bill
X ^ | May 25 | Sen. Rand Paul

Posted on 05/25/2025 11:51:17 PM PDT by RandFan

@garysteveneaton

OK. If you’re really a fiscal hawk how about being the point man on codifying DOGE cuts?

@RandPaul

The DOGE cuts can only happen when POTUS sends Congress a “rescission” bill. By law this can only occur when POTUS sends Congress a bill and we can approve the cuts by simple majority. So far, POTUS has not sent Congress a “rescission” bill. In this particular case Congress is beholden to a directive from POTUS.

@RandPaul

For over a month rumors of a $9B rescission bill have circulated, comprised of $8B in foreign aid cuts and $1B in NPR cuts. But the bill never materialized supposedly because weak-kneed Republicans are threatening to vote no. ($9B is a rounding error, but a start) and yet GOP leadership seems under the spell of GOP big spenders.

@RandPaul

The Big Beautiful Bill raises the debt ceiling $5 trillion dollars (the Senate version). No Congress has ever approved a debt ceiling so large!

Interest on the debt now exceeds $1 trillion!

@RandPaul

The debate isn’t over faithfulness to President Trump, whom I admire and support. The debate is about the debt crisis that faces the country and will anyone be brave enough to stand athwart the tsunami of debt before it drowns us all.

Mike lee is gaslighting. Unfortunately jus another politician wanting his face in the news.
As Stephen Miller said the BBB can only contain cuts to manditory spending.
“The senate rules prevent it from cutting “discretionary” spending — eg the Department of Education or federal grants. The DOGE cuts are overwhelmingly discretionary, not mandatory. The bill saves more than 1.6 TRILLION in mandatory spending, including the largest-ever welfare reform.”

Which is a joke while baseline budgeting is still in use.

Is that why is he pushing Medicaid funding cuts that would cause hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and home health agencies to close or downsize, especially in rural and lower-income communities ?

I figure Musk was telling the truth. He has made an incredible effort in time and $ and he must concentrate on his businesses for awhile. He has also said that he will be monitoring & advising on the Doge process as needed just not day to day.
This is the fake news trying to cast mud on Trump. Who ever thought that Musk was going to get involved in the midterms etc. He put in the effort to save the Country, not to enter politics on a continuing basis. He even stayed in through violence, death threats, arson etc. He is disappointed at the pace. It’s not how his world usually runs but he has never said he is disappointed at Trump. He’d be an ass not to see that Trump is moving mountains. The people who have done nothing but grumble are the first to find fault.

I’d say that means he’s totally inept and his proposed budgets are window dressing. What a joke to do the same ineffectual action year after year. It certainly saves him from coming up with actual, concrete suggestions. He’s content to run his mouth.

Except that only applies to this year, for funding previously approved.

At hand is next year’s funding, where all of the DOGE cuts should be incorporated but virtually none of them are.

What do you expect... He cannot bang 99 heads together

Maybe if you elect him president. You’ll need to swallow some pride and past comments before that happens

Basically running to a microphone, running his mouth and proposing something that he knows will never pass, he’s not serious otherwise he would be negotiating with the Trump administration and come up with something meaningful instead of being a NO before debate even begins

Because the BBB needs to be done first. The stated plans is a bundled DOGE cut bill which Trump’s cabinet is preparing and will send to Congress. MTG among others has confirmed this plan.

He’s trying but Trump is as stubborn as he is. Maybe Rand has convinced some colleagues not to vote for this and it will bring Trump to the table

Alls well that ends well

Well since Hillary Clinton pushed Clinton Care that hosed up medical care in the US and then Obamacare that industry is doomed to fail but that was the plan anyway...Now it is all about profits...

If they’re not going to get the cuts in the spending bill, don’t expect them to get them at all. Sure, maybe a billion here and a billion there as a fig leaf. But early DOGE was talking about $1-2T in annual cuts!

Increasingly it is looking as if DOGE was a donation payoff to let Musk and the rest of the PayPal mafia to get a massive head start on scooping up data and providing the “AI” for major parts of the government they hadn’t had access to to date.

Trump is proposing cuts of waste, and abuse only to Medicare. The rest are leftist & neverTrumper lies. If removing fraud cuts hospital/clinic etc profit they will have to adjust.

That’s the point. You need 50 votes or you have done nothing and that’s what he’s done for 15 years. Exactly like Massie. You have to get your ideas to be supported. He should be at a think tank or a talking head on some panel.

I’m sorry. I understand you have bought his spiel. It is not an attack on you when I point out that a Don Quixote type is not a serious politician. Actions speak louder than words and I judge by results.
It is the bigotry of low expectations that give Rand Paul a pass for no accomplishments because he says the right words.
We have had many such, that talk a great fight and do nothing. They have learned over the years that capturing people’s emotions with empty noble sounding words get’s them a seat at the table.

What he was saying was for Public consumption. I suspect the real truth was he figured out he might have been played by the Trump team and GOP. In politics never trust anyone including Trump as the Trump team did little to protect him and his businesses from the violence other than a token action by his AG and FBI who I think is compromised. What Musk did was give cover for Trump to fulfill some campaign promises as a blind man could see it as the GOP is just as corrupt as the Democrats as politics invites corruption, graft and greed. The Mid Terms will be a blood bath for the GOP as bad as I hate it the Democrats will make a huge come back even as evil as they are as the Elderly and others will just sit it out I think...Trump could have prevented this but the Elderly got tossed under the bus and Trump did nothing to stop it.
