Oscar Mayer unveils the “Wienie 500,” a first-ever Wienermobile race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, streaming live May 23 ahead of Sunday’s Indy 500.
Oscar Mayer is putting mustard on the pedal to the metal with the first-ever “Wienie 500,” a race between all six of its iconic Wienermobiles ahead of the Indianapolis 500.
The oversized hot dogs on wheels will compete in a lighthearted race on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway track on Friday at 2 p.m. EST as part of the Indy 500 weekend.
"The Wienie 500 will also mark the first ‘meat-up’ of all six Wienermobiles in over a decade and the first competitive race for the fleet," Oscar Meyer said in a statement. "From custom Hotdogger racing suits, to a trophy presentation in the ‘Wiener’s Circle’, complete with a condiment spray and hot dog for the wiener’s enjoyment, every moment of the race is designed to spark smiles."
Each Wienermobile will represent a different dog from a U.S. region:
Chi Dog — Midwest
New York Dog — East
Slaw Dog — Southeast
Sonoran Dog — Southwest
Chili Dog — South
Seattle Dog — Northwest
Kelsey Rice, Oscar Mayer's brand communications director, said the "Indy 500 marks the unofficial kickoff of summer and the start of hot dog season."
The hot dog race will be streamed live on the FOX Sports app and across @INDYCARonFOX social accounts. Highlights will also be shown on Sunday during the Indy 500 pre-race show on FOX.

Where can I get one of those? Would it fit in my garage? Ah, who cares; I can build another garage.
I don’t follow auto racing, but anything that involves using a Weiner-Mobile sounds like a lotta fun.
Take it away, Oscar Meyer!
Let’s have some Hot Fun in the Summertime.
Indy is going to the dogs. I love it!
Oscar Mayer hires new college graduates to drive the weinermobiles for the summer. They used to hire attractive coeds. Now they probably hires guys and who knows what else. Somewhere on the internet is a schedule of their location and the dates. And yes, there are a couple of weinermobile accidents every year. It’s hard to parallel park those dogs.
Gotta wonder what the top speed of a giant mechanized hot dog is. Hope they’ve got limiter plates to hold them under 200 mph.
I got to drive one back in the late 80’s - around the parking lot at PGA National. They asked us if they could park there, and we said yeah, but there’s gonna be a cost...
What’s the over/under on the # of topheavy Wienermobiles that tip over on the banked oval track? I’ll say 2.5 and take the under.
The weinermobiles are in the midwest right now. You can check their locations.

The originals were on an Olds 88 frame. Make you one.
I’d rather see them in a figure-8 race...
Ha! Thanks for posting this! I just tuned in!
Come on Chicago, put the mustard to it!😀
I had to look it up:
A Seattle dog, also known as a Seattle-style hot dog, is a hot dog served in a bun with cream cheese, often topped with grilled onions and other condiments. It originated in Seattle in 1989 and is popular as street food, especially near bars and sporting events.
If it was a Demolition Derby, I would pay to see that.
A figure 8 race against Heinzmobiles, French’s mustardmobiles and the vlasic pickle trucks would be a perfect NASCAR condiment to the “BUNS OF GLORY”! Ok...I’m hungry now.
I rather see a demolition derby with those things.
RE: Buns of Glory.
Liza Minelli won a poll for best rear end in show business three times in the 1970s.
The old days.
