May I ask, what institution is shown on your diploma as having conferred your degree? (Columbia College? Columbia University? Something else?)
Does your diploma mention something like “The Faculty of the School of General Studies...” or say anything about the SGS?
If you attended a graduation exercise, did it include all “Columbia” students, or were there separate events for College versus University?
I don’t understand the drift of your questions besides happy animus and the general difficulty of adjusting prejudices. Beyond that, that degree was way too long ago to pull up from memory: It was something that said roughly: Columbia University in the City of New York: School of General Studies. (That said, as a student at GS I took graduate level course and columbia college courses.)
