Is it nice?
I live in a neighboring area. It’s not a bad place to live. Many job opportunities as well. I read the US News and WR piece awarding it number 1. The part that made me laugh out loud was where they said something like the “summer temperatures hover around 78 degrees”. They did that by averaging the night and day temperatures over a 24 hour period in summer.
I laughed because I imagine a person from up north using this to make a decision to move down here and then experiencing 96 degrees with high humidity for a heat index of 112. I fast forward in my mind to some point in August when they have a mental breakdown from the summer they weren’t prepared for.
If it is, it won't be for long - it's been my experience that this sort of article and ranking is the kiss of death to nice places to live.
I lived next door to Massapequa Park... in Amityville.
MP is nice, but nothing spectacular... I live on Long Island... I think there are some superior towns I frequent offen... Northport and Port Jefferson to name just two...
Not sure how they picked MP...
