Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, will speak by phone on Monday evening.

During a press conference in Moscow on Monday, Peskov confirmed that the call is scheduled for 5 p.m. Moscow time (GMT1400).

According to him, the purpose of the call is to discuss the outcomes of the recent Russia-Ukraine talks held in Istanbul last week.

Peskov described the upcoming contact as "important," noting that the leaders will also discuss future communications between the two countries.

Good luck, President Trump.

You are likely to need it.

Russia has laid out its claims for peace. They are winning on the battlefield and in their economy. And they do have some pretty strong allies that we've helped them create. Russia is the winner -- not the loser. They have faced the best the US/NATO can throw at them and still are winning.

Why in the world would they relent now? Well, they won't. They will go for a deal that gets them very close to their stated objectives of the last three-plus years. Anything less is a fool's game.

Trump should be smart enough to know that he ain't dealing with some little bitty country like Iraq or Afghanistan with threats and that can't fight back (except, of course, Yemen still fights back). He'll need to turn on the charm and not the attack dog.

I'm glad he's trying 'cause it's high time we focused on our own and the $37 trillion in debt that can sink us.

“They have faced the best the US/NATO can throw at them and still are winning.”

No, they haven’t. Haven’t fought US troops yet. Just some weapons. If the USA was to fight them, we’d destroy them.

It’s a WWI style trench warfare stalemate. No one on either side is breaking thru like a panzer blitzkreig. That bird has flown.

I do agree that Russia can keep the pressure on Ukraine for far longer than Ukraine can find men to defend itself, but that is still years away at this pace.

Putin does have a lot to lose—mostly human beings and a huge, hefty economic price.

I think Trump’s offer to let them keep the lands they occupy, and end US sanctions is a good deal for Putin that he’ll take.

Your funny.

You mean like US Troops fought against the little bitty countries of Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan, just to name a few?

Those sure worked out really well. That there is one heck of a track record.

Keep on dreaming, though. Maybe you'll hit on something.

He's got more to lose if he lets NATO take over Ukieland and put missiles right on his border. You know. Like we stood up and drew the line when them Ruskies placed missiles 90 miles away from us in Cuba. What did we do? We invaded (a failure) and embargoed Cuba, met the Rusikies and made ready to blow up the planet.

You lose lives in wars. That's the way it works. From all indications, the Russians are losing much less than the Ukrainians. That's how wars of attrition work.

As for economic prices, have you seen pictures of life in Moscow and St. Petersburg? They sure don't look downtrodden and in the dumps to me either.

Oh yeah. One other point. In case you missed it the chart below for Ruskie GDP sure don't look like no collapse to me.

Russia GDP growth for all of 2024 = 4.5%. USA 2024 GDP growth = 2.3%.

Go figure.

Being you must be a foreigner, I’ll forgive you for not knowing much about American history. You are cherry-picking American history to prove your point. Let’s look at some more. Let’s ask the French, the Indians, the Redcoats, more Indians, the Redcoats again, Santa Anna and the Mexicans, Jefferson Davis and the CSA, more Indians, Spain, Kaiser Willhelm and the Central Powers, Hitler and the Axis, North Korea (we kicked their asses until China intervened) how fighting the USA turned out for them. Saddam Hussein and Iraq two times. The others you cite were political decisions, not military defeats.

I’ll forgive you for not knowing much about American history.

Yep. I agree with your history.

- Indians - More Indians. We just walked in and invaded, took their land, made 'em walk to Oklahoma, sent them to reservations, and all kinds of wonderful moves -- 'cause we could.

-Hitler & Axis. Oh sure. The US did that all alone after we jumped in to save 'em two years late! Forget the other European countries that fought Hitler. And guess what country drove the Germans out of their country and finally entered Berlin to end the war?? It wasn't the US. Wanna guess? And we did that all by ourselves -- no help at all.

-Korea. Yep. We kicked their asses. That's why here we are 75 years after kicking their asses that the country is still divided at the 38th parallel. Yep. That's really winning.

-Iraq & Saddam. There you go again. We invented/lied about WMDs to invade a country that was 80% smaller than we were. Oh look. We killed about a million of them and spent trillions -- FOR WHAT? Where is Iraq today? Yep, they're really close allies -- NOT.

And finally, maybe you should learn a little history. The Romans fought and captured huge swaths of land -- until they didn't. Not to cherry pick, but if you can't see that we've done nothing in the last 60 or so years other than pick on those little bitty countries like Cuba, Panama, Granada, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and more with gusto then you must be blind or dumb.

Please explain how spending ourselves into bankruptcy for all that effort, which has mostly been debacles, has worked out? And you want to send more of our kids to go and fight for this. Well, you go for it. That's not what I want. It's high time we focused on our own and not saving the planet from made-up threats just 'cause we can. Cause we're about to go broke doing it!

Again cherry-picking. The Indians were not slouches when it came to fighting. They’d surely kick your miserable Russian asses.

“And we did that all by ourselves — no help at all.”

Here’s that tired old Soviet lie. Without us you would have lost. Let alone getting into Berlin. The Red Army would have been starving and barefoot. The entire railroad and transportation systems would have collapsed. Maybe you should learn the real history. Also, remember who else sat on the sidelines at the start and actually Hitler. Wasn’t the USA, was your beloved Soviet Union.

“Yep. We kicked their asses. “

We did. We were on the way to liberating the whole country. The peace we got was a political choice, not a military result. We just didn’t want to pay the price to defeat the Chinese.

” We invented/lied about WMDs to invade a country that was 80% smaller than we were. “

Doesn’t matter what the reason is. We did it, twice, and against a military that was armed and trained by guess who? Yes, the Russians. Call them substitute Russians. Another indicator that we can destroy the Russian Army.

“Cause we’re about to go broke doing it!”

What’s this “we” garbage, Mr. Russian? I’m against this stupid war too, but when you come on this forum with your stupid bragging someone is going to nail you.

Again cherry-picking

Nope. Just stat'n the facts man. Just facts. You seem bothered by the truth, cowboy.

Here’s that tired old Soviet lie. Without us you would have lost

You're probably half correct. AND WITHOUT THEM we would've lost. This may come as a surprise, but we didn't do it all by our little bitty selves like we did when we invaded the giant countries of Cuba, Granada, Panama, and Libya.

We were on the way to liberating the whole country (Korea). The peace we got was a political choice, not a military result.

Oh, sure, cowboy. Of course, that's the excuse it was political 'cause everybody knows we "kicked their ass--" NOT. You may not have noticed, but after 75 years, there is still a DPRK going strong just above the 38th parallel.

We did it, twice, and against a military that was armed and trained by guess who? Yes, the Russians. Call them substitute Russians. Another indicator that we can destroy the Russian Army.

Well, of course we can! Just like we did in Vietnam and Afghanistan. Did I mention Ukraine, where we've dumped billions upon billions and supplied the latest technology, including the soldiers to run it? Now, that's worked out really well. Right? We sure beat them Ruskies up -- bad.

....but when you come on this forum with your stupid bragging, someone is going to nail you.

Okay. I'm now nailed for speaking the truth. Look, cowboy, I've paid taxes for decades, and I served my country. I've earned the right to call out bumbling when I see it -- and I see it big time. I'm sorry I offended you and your blind ideas. The same ideas that are leading us to a path for bigger problems ahead.

Maybe you should consider a job as a fiction writer. You're really, really good at that.

“You’re probably half correct. AND WITHOUT THEM we would’ve lost.”

They must have LSD in the Moscow water supply. There was absolutely, positively no chance for the Axis to defeat the USA. Maybe achieve a stalemate until the Manhattan Project pays off. If we kept the political will we would have defeated them alone.

Yep. There's always an excuse. Political will kept us for "beating there asses."

Now, that has sure happened a lot in the last 60 years 'cause we made a mess of every war we started -- including losing in the end.
