A crowd of any sort is a moment away from a stampede or riot. I was in a crowd leaving our high school football game. Someone fired off a pen tear gas capsule in the densest part of the crowd where we were all forced together to get through the gate. The crowd panicked and people were seriously injured.

In high school anytime a fight broke out a crowd gathered. Often the fight expanded, and people not initially involved got injured.

I learned, when you see a crowd, go the other way.

Of course, I see the need for better education, psychological intervention and emphasis on ethical rationalism in society. But in the mean time, in between time, I see the need for rubber bullets, tear gas and confinement in closely supervised hard work camps for offenders.
