newsweek ^

Trump appointed three conservative Supreme Court judges during his last presidential term, pushing the Supreme Court balance to a 6-3 conservative majority.

That led to the overturn of Roe v. Wade and other conservative advances.

If reelected on November 5, he may be able to replace the two oldest conservatives with younger nominees, guaranteeing the conservative majority for many years, legal analysts believe.

I think the Senate would turn on Cruz

You may be right there and I had not considered that prospect. Cruz can be both condescending and abrasive. For the most part, the rest of the Senate knows he's smarter than they are. Not a good social combination but hey, they might go for it to be rid of him. :-)

It gets very tiresome to hear the media talk about the 6-3 conservative court. That is total BS. The court has two conservatives, three radical leftists and four wishy washy justices (Roberts, Barrett, Kavenaugh and Gorsich) who are not conservatives at all nor are they definitely nor originalists.

**I also think several squishy RINOs are going to be replaced by MAGA Senators.**
Be specific. Cornyn ok. Cassidy/Tillis-red states. Replace them with what?

**That said, it makes sense for Thomas and Alito to retire during Trump’s term.
Thomas and Alito need to stay.**
Be specific-this year or next?

A good campaign issue-for republicans(primary) or democrats in November.

Why? They’d still have their proportionate representation without him.

There are only 2 reliable conservatives on the court despite 6 of the 9 having been named by Republicans.

The uniparty controlled opposition lives.

Well he put ACB in his last term, we know how she votes now. I don’t believe he was given good information, he was used my McConnell.

Just think of the effect Cruz would have on the ‘26 elections if he were to be nominated next year just before the ‘26 elections. I say go for broke! Who else would you rather follow into battle?

40 year-olds can ‘evolve’. That’s a danger so I suggested a politician. They evolve too. Alter all they’re lawyers too.

There would be no legal requirement that Clarence Thomas be succeeded by a black person, but if a white person, or any non-black person, was selected, the uproar would be deafening. Before Thomas the seat was held by Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court justice.

But the Dems have that seat covered now.

Finding a conservative replacement would probably look like pandering—and be tough to do. I’d bet an Asian conservative would be easier to find.

Perhaps DJT should issue an EO reducing the number to two.
