Further evidence that high-priced auctions are for money laundering, especially for “art” that looks essentially worthless.
Had a friend of mine that said that that was where the CIA laundered their money years ago. I am starting to believe him now.
The comments at the link said essentially the same thing.
I never thought of that reason for atrociously priced *art* but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
I also heard that many objects on eBay that are exorbitantly priced are also for the purpose of money laundering.
