ISTANBUL, May 15. /TASS/. Negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul will start on May 16, a source told TASS.

"Yes, on May 16," the source said.

Earlier, head of the Russian delegation at the talks Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin had given directives on what Moscow’s negotiating position should be in Istanbul after meeting with top generals in the special military operation. According to Medinsky, the Russian delegation has been vested with the necessary powers to negotiate, and will aim to find common ground with its counterparts in the talks.

Is Zelensky staying for the free room, and meals?

Putin never offered to go. He offered direct talks between Russia and Ukraine. Zelensky demanded that Putin be there, which was silly because everyone knows heads of state do not engage in initial negotiations — they send their negotiating teams.

Why do you call my President Trump silly? HE is the one who asked Zelensky to be there.

I think you should all stop shilling for Russia and get behind OUR president.

Trump has my support, period.

Whatever one may think of the Turks at least they are trying to get this solved.

If you remember they tried to come up with peace proposals way back in 2022.

The talks have been postponed until tomorrow.

There were reports the Russian delegation arrived in Istanbul in time this morning, but Zelensky and his delegation went to Ankara first and still had not arrived in Istanbul as of 5pm local time. I don’t know whether those reports are correct.

Whatever, I never expected anything to come of these talks. The Ukrainians insist they will only discuss that 30 day ceasefire they want which Russia naturally has already rejected.

Got a link to back that up? Maybe I missed it.

He told Ukraine to agree to talks and go here:

He did not tell Zelensky to go in person.

“Oh I see..so its still on as scheduled then”

The likely Neocon plan, at this point, is for Ukraine to TENTATIVELY offer-up substantial, like returning Crimea to Russia, and then DEMAND that Putin freeze his troops. Putin, being fooled several times in the past by the Neocons, will say “no thanks”, and continue the war. At that point, the Neocons will go to Trump and claim “Putin’s not serious”, and demand sanctions and another $100B of US Money and Weapons go to Ukraine...and hope to hell that Trump takes the bait.

...as to what Trump does - take the bait and have his own Vietnam, or instead put an end to the war, will pretty much determine the future of his administration and the Republican Party.

Zelensky said he already will not accept any of the territories that voted to break away from Ukraine, he needs this war to continue
