Don’t Underestimate Christian Media
New American Prophet ^ | May 15, 2025 | Dr. Jerry Newcombe

For years, Christian media has often been viewed as a backwater source—like something seen in a Saturday Night Live skit. A source for snickers, but not for sensible information.

But, as Dr. Ted Baehr, the publisher of “Movieguide,” likes to say in effect, “The good news is: The bad news is wrong.”

Funny that while reading this I'm listening to Reluctant Radio podcast (Christian music). LOL

He forgot the Babylon Bee. Absolutely everyone sees that.

Christian themed movies have done incredibly well of late.

I will say though, modern Christian music is mostly worthless. I’m not some old guy who yearns for an Isaac Watts/Fannie Crosby collaboration album but 70’s and 80’s Jesus music and Christian rock for outshines the Jesus is my boyfriend and soy boy warbling they put out today.

Thank you for posting. My son worked for KGNZ radio (tech) in Abilene, Texas for several years. Very well established family owned Christian station. It is targeted toward young Christians, but lots of us old guys listen to it.

I was very active on Twitter (X) for 15 years. Yes. There are/were Christians there.

Recently I was banned, in my mind I did nothing wrong. My followers ran from 7-8000, for many years. After I signed up for paid subscription, things changed. Long story, not really important any more. My screen name was @TX_1, you won’t find it anywhere. My account was totally scrubbed.

For most of my life I have followed groups of people who struggle for freedom. It lead my to involvement with the Kurds in N. Syria during our defeat of ISIS. It gave me real time reality. I was very very close to some well informed people there. Learned a lot about the good and evil of that region.

After I no longer had access to X, I looked for a good source of news in the Middle East. These are the times when that is most important.

I found by accident Amir Tsarfati’s Telegram site. AMAZING. He is a Jewish Christian pastor and a still connected military officer. Like the people I worked with from Syria, he knows the reality. His daily news is 99% spot on.

I’m 77 years old, my family has lived in the county for 5 generations. One of my ancestors was born in Texas during the Republic of Texas.

God Bless you and your friends. I am amazed I have not seen your posts before.

I will remind, that God can use anything and anyone, even what we might consider worthless or evil infiltrated, to touch and stir a soul to seek HIM.

I was raised catholic church every week and school for 9 years including kindergarten and yet I had no real relationship with God. IMO God was someone who was letting all sorts of unfun and hurtful things happen to me so I grew to believe HE was too busy doing God things and didnt care about me. I spent decades trying to figure out life myself.

One day when many things were wrong in my life and I hurt back and then stubbed and broke a toe in my effort to get an ice pack for my back, I had no idea but that was the last straw before God drew me in. He knew my mind was broken to the point of wanting a better way.

I sat down with two cold packs one for back and one for swollen blue toe and flipped thru the 5 or so usual channels that came in clear on TV. Nothing I wanted to watch was on. I said to myself ok, Nana and Grandpa used to watch Mass on TV maybe this will be a Mass. And I clicked on the only other clear channel that I knew was there but never watched before. It was TBN. I was glued the rest of the day and for weeks. It made some actual sense out of the Bible I never really understood its stories or purpose.

I have since grown, and see errors in almost all Christian people’s/leader’s teachings and I no longer have TV, so I mostly listen (sermons or online or people conversations etc) for truths being said, and run the rest thru what I have learned of the Bible in years as believer in Jesus!
