I also think that Pete Rose should be in the HoF. I just think that MLB was correct to wait until he had died. Pete was a constant embarrassment to MLB and it wasn’t just the gambling. There was a credible sexual assault allegation. Then there was the conviction for tax evasion which sent Pete to prison.
I also happen to think that PED’s go back way further than is currently thought. Look at pictures of Pete Rose when he was a rookie with the Reds. Pete was a gym rat when he was with the Phillies — which was pretty peculiar in the early 80’s for any baseball player. Mike Schmidt did more than defend Pete, he actually seemed to minimize what Pete did. I find that peculiar too.
