My take was that any military base or post would let a civilian able to provide valid ID turn around if they made a wrong turn by mistake.

I live near a base with a couple gates.

I’ve strayed down the entrance road before. There are plenty of signs, speed bumps and a guard station with lots of security.

Stevie Wonder could have seen that he was entering a secure facility.

There’s also a turnaround 100’ before the gate.

I guess things have changed in the past 45 years.

There was a time when a civilian was assumed innocent.
