What Do Democrats Do Next?
American Thinker ^ | 12 May, 2025 | Christopher Chantrill

Thaddeus G. McCotter writes that “Big Government is Chaos” and thank goodness for the new Trump budget that cuts $163 billion and returns discretionary spending other than defense to 2017 levels.

Savings come from eliminating radical diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and critical race theory (CRT) programs, Green New Scam funding,

And so on. Did you know how mandatory vs. discretionary spending line up? Usgsovernmentspending.com has a page on it. Mandatory is blue, and keeps getting bigger. Of course, you know that defense spending is discretionary.

But won’t the voters rebel against cuts in the programs they have come to rely on?

Probably not, because Democrats are no longer applying the Irving Kristol rule, that if you want to help the poor, as in Social Security or Medicare, you need to deal in the middle class. Today everything Democrats do infuriates the middle class.

It’s not that the Democrats have changed their game. Ever since Marx, the Left has operated what experts call “Allyship.” The Left is always the Ally of the Oppressed Peoples in their fight against the Oppressors. First it was the workers fighting the capitalists, then all good people fighting for black civil rights, then women fighting the patriarchy. But now it’s fighting for transgenders in the women’s bathroom and fighting for undocumented migrants against… Yes -- who, exactly?

The Climate Change Scam doesn’t seem to hurt AOC or Bernie Sanders.

All government spending is discretionary including social welfare programs, defense, payments to the UN and other organizations, salaries of government officials, and even payment on the national debt.

The concept of mandatory spending allows programs to avoid scrutiny thereby becoming corrupt and wasteful. DOGE has shown there is massive fraud in Social Security, Medicare, and other “mandatory” social welfare programs.

As for the national debt, every nation unable to control deficit spending repudiates some or all of the national debt. If this nation does not rebuild its manufacturing base, and reign in government spending, a future president and Congress will face the choice of hyper inflation or bankruptcy.

  1. If the fed will lower interest rates, that would help reduce the interest on the debt.
  2. If Doge finds and stops significant frauds in the "mandatory" spending that will help.
  3. If Trump rakes in significant tariffs and/or gets more production occurring in the US, that won't reduce mandatory spending but it provides more revenue to pay for it.

Their appeal is in resentment, dissent, and discord. To acquire a following, they need someone to blame. They need a mob to whip into a frenzy. You never see them telling the crowd what they can do to make the world a better place. They only scream about what’s wrong with it and that it all needs to come down. The worst thing that can happen to them is that things actually do go well and there’s nothing to complain about.

The hair salon I go to has seriously troubled stylist with major TDS. This guy is constantly bashing PDJT and scaring these little old ladies about the world exploding and no more Social Security checks. He is off the chain crazy because he sees what a wreck the democrat party is in. I think many see how hopeless the democrats are and that scares them.

The Democrats have become the party of the insane. They push idiocies like men can have babies and become women to compete in women’s sports, wearing cloth masks and standing 6 feet apart prevents the spread of a virus, burning of cities is to be tolerated and the police are to be defunded, flooding the nation with unvetted aliens and lamenting efforts to deport violent criminal aliens and force us to accept these as normal and good. Add to this many Democrats believe that Trump is Hitler and a dictator and it would be generally OK” to assassinate him or to overthrow the government to “save democracy« Any rational person would see this as total onsanity.

Disgovernmentizing.

Back in 1955 you had to actually earn your own living. But then it was still possible.

The big deal then was:

NO CREDIT CARDS

You had to save up to purchase a house, buy a car, get a refrigerator, go to college and/or earn your way through--tuition, room, and board. Or borrow funds with security to back it up if you guessed wrong.

Not for the weak or the wicked. Drugs outside of booze or smokes was not an option. Widespread charity filled the income gap, as did reading for enjoyment, not youtube or fentanyl.

What passed as "Democrats" had to do the same as everybody else.
