Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday welcomed Russia’s offer for direct peace talks, but insisted there must be a full, temporary ceasefire in place before negotiations can start.
Zelenskyy, writing on X, called Russian President Vladimir Putin’s counter-offer to start talks without a ceasefire a “positive sign,” and said that “the entire world has been waiting for this for a very long time.”

In Kyiv and alongside President Trump, we made a clear proposal: an unconditional 30-day ceasefire starting on Monday.
President Zelensky committed without setting any condition. We now expect an equally clear response from Russia.
There can be no negotiations while weapons are speaking.

Putin wants neither peace nor to stop pounding Ukraine into the ground for defying him. To do so would be to show weakness and risk being ousted by his own people. He is a man possessed now. Any Russian “offer” to stop is a lie to get Ukraine let its guard down. They have done this over and over.

During Vietnam war the Paris peace talks lasted for years. For Russia to agree to a ceasefire would essentially be to surrender. It won’t happen.
No… it’s for Ukraine to negotiate, de militarize and de naizify and accept neutrality. The Ukes want to end it on their terms BEFORE they negotiate. And they want to do this while get are losing.
