The whole Win11 thing is probably make me finally move to Apple hardware. Looking at MacBook Pros.
Will keep my old Windows PC because reasons, and the wife has a Win11 machine, so I’ve still got a fallback.
Windows is now nothing but SPYWARE. I have 10 and it’s working perfectly for me so of course they have to destroy it. It doesn’t control me enough or tell them enough about what I do. Wife has 11 and hates it so her laptop is just an expensive dust-collecting paper weight. Yes we still have paper in our house. I have an iPad Mini I had to buy because I hate smartphones and needed an Apple config to run the app that came with the hearing aids. Admittedly it’s an amazing tool. Much more immersive than Windows. But it doesn’t take the place of a desktop.
Sounds almost like me.
My Mac is the workhorse for me.
Several Linux distros live on a Windows 11 laptop via Virtualbox.
One old Dell has Mint by itself.
The spouse will probably never leave Windows.
In a non work setting I prefer Apple. Windows is necessary for work with all the online programs the company uses which either are difficult to access with Apple or are impossible.
Apple Mac Mini M4 at Costco for 579.00. It’s the base model. Only 5 inches on a side and 3 inches tall. Use any hdmi display and practically any usb keyboard and mouse. Display, mouse and keyboard can be had for 60 bucks at a thrift store although you can use the accessories from the PC you are going to get rid of. I splurged on an Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID from Amazon for 80 bucks refurbished.
