My little brother and his wife had 5 kids. My brother was not particularly political, but his wife has always been extremely liberal and that is the way the kids were brought up. His kids are now in their late 20s to mid 30s. They are all married. Not one of them has any plans to have any children. They all claim that it is bad for the environment to have children. I am not sure if this is the real reason, but that is what they say.
My wife and I had only three kids, but they have given us eight grandkids. And one of our grandkids and his wife have been trying to start a family but have been having difficulties.
Things are certainly different now than when we baby boomers were kids. Most of my friends growing up had at least three kids in their family and many had quite a few more than that. There were kids all over the place... now it feels like the kingdom on the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang movie. My wife and I see very few kids when we are out and about. We almost always compliment the parents of children we see and thank them for having children. The world is not the same without them.
