Sounds like you’re thinking of the Xhosa language of South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The click sounds are in the so-called Khoisan languages of southern Africa (spoken by the people formerly called Bushmen and by the people formerly called Hottentots). Some of the Bantu languages may have picked up some of the sounds.
