“Where was the oppression and tyranny?”
The north refused to honor provisions of the U.S. Constitution and voted to impose confiscatory taxes on the southern states.
The southern states invoked the remedy available under the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.
“Slavery.”
The Confederacy had a pro-slavery Constitution.
Does that fact disqualify the southern states from invoking the principles in the Declaration of Independence and establishing a new government?
So the northern states won an election, and the sore losers wouldn’t accept the result. It wasn’t about tariffs and taxes. Good lord, it was all about slavery. Nothing in our history comes close to the bitterness over the slavery issue. People were killing each other over slavery. I mean, I’m not going to my neighbor’s house and slice him and his sons up with swords because of tariffs.
“Good lord, it was all about slavery.”
That is an interesting comment.
If the South was fighting for slavery, who was fighting against slavery?
Now you’re being ridiculous. Just go away.
I am no chess player; surprised to have put you in checkmate with just one post.
