Good. Most “arts” organizations are subversive.

Bears repeating.

The key is the exact wording of the legislation.

It is stunningly vague.

Congress could micro-manage expenditures if they wanted to do so.

For the most part they do not do it.

Good. Most “arts” organizations are subversive.

The artists I’ve worked with have been very talented, kind and generous and while some of them different political ideologies than myself in the area of art we were in agreement.

There are plenty of wealthy donors who will pick up the slack on many of these Leftist art projects.

These are creative people. They can find a way.

My art business is supported by my day job. Not only do I take funds from my salary to invest, some of my best customers have been my coworkers. Part of it is that the love knowing the artist personally. That was unexpected, but it totally works.

Indeed. Why should ordinary working people be forced to subsidize ruling class degeneracy?

Meanwhile, art continues as ever.

And to think— how has government sponsoring of “the arts” improved culture and the arts over that same time period?

Aside from a few drama theater organizations who live off the government teet (and who will rave about how such funding has enabled them to put on shows), has the public been served in any measurable way by these types of government redistribution??

Think of all the Veterans services which could have been funded, cancer research that could have been subsidized, etc. over those 45 years...

So many communities through oppressive taxes support “community art”. Most of is crappy, ugly, inappropriate...but expensive. Forcing people to support “art” is absolute BS.

It is generous to call this generation of art ‘art’.

Ever since Maplethorpe did “piss Christ” I knew the entire program should be shut down. Why the hell should the taxpayers be forced to pay for dreck like that?

And I’m an Agnostic. I’ve never been a believer.

That’s just gross, and deliberately offensive. Imagine an “artist” who got taxpayer money smearing feces all over a Koran and calling it “shit Mohammed”. Would that be “cool” and “edgy” and “artistic”? Something tells me Lefties would not look at it that way nor would they defend it.

Part of me hates to see US theater, orchestraI music, opera, ballet, local museums, etc. dry up and blow away, leaving only “commercial” garbage to define our culture.

Part of me missed the part of the Constitution that empowers the federal government to seize the People’s money and spend it on “art” as defined by some self-selected elite or who knows.

Since GoFundMe can raise $600,000 in a few days for a teen murderer, private fund-raisers ought to be able to collect support for worthy art and performances.

It’s too bad some of these terminations can’t be retroactive. The artists are paid millions of dollars for such atrocities as the Marilyn Monroe sculpture in Chicago and the giant penis in Boston.
