The last Offy entry at Indy was in 1983, closing the book on a phenomenal 57-year history. As far as I know this was the last 4 cylinder used in INDYCAR. Then came the V-6 Buick engines and the Penske V-8 Pushrod Chevrolet. After that they went to V-6.
The Hybrid Assist Unit was unveiled at Mid-Ohio on July 7 midway through the 2024 season but will be utilized at every IndyCar Series race in 2025. The hybrid assist – developed specifically for IndyCar through a first-of-its-kind collaborative effort by Chevrolet and Honda – provides an added boost of 120 horsepower when used with traditional Push to Pass on road and street circuits. Used in tandem, a total of 800 horsepower is available to drivers for the first time in two decades.
New this season, use of the hybrid power unit will be allowed to start or restart the 2.2L twin-turbocharged V6 engines on pit lane. As in 2024, hybrid assist will be allowed to restart a stalled race car on the race track on non-ovals.
Gasoline is not exactly safe either.

There are those of Us who just like/love Racing of any kind.
If they would put Lawnmower Racing back on TV I would watch it again. I think they should leave the functional Blade Deck on them for a bit more drama.

Bucket list item for me. Will be there.
I hardly known anything about race cars and some of the jargon, but this hybrid power unit reminds me of the start cart they used to start the SR-71. It wasn't no hybrid unit but some cart with two big V-8 engines, and I'm sure the hybrid units are alot quicker to get on the race track then getting the monster starter unit on the flight line to get the SR-71 started.
Back in the Saddle Again !!!
And one of the best weekends in Racing with:
Monaco F1 GP, Indy 500 and Coke 600 (or whatever they call it this year) giving Us 1100 miles of Racing in 1 day !!!
And if Larson Qualifies for The 500 then He will be attempting the Double again.
I need to get more TV’s so I can have all the available different Race details on at the same time. In Car, Track Data, overall Race and Timing and Scoring.
Then get some help to mount them all up on the ceiling so I can lay flat on the bed. Setup the food stash with some Pizza, Nachos and Pablano Queso with a good Sub Sandwich for backup. (maybe a nice BLT or a Club)
I should probably get a bottle of Tums just incase...

Larson was good enough in the Indy 500 last year that he had a chance to win it. Hopefully the weather works out okay and he gets 1100 miles in.
