Russia's Putin says reverting to Stalingrad name up to city residents

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday it was up to residents of Volgograd to decide whether the city should revert to the name of Stalingrad, as it was called when Soviet forces defeated Nazi invaders in World War Two's bloodiest battle.

Ahead of next week's commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union and its allies over Nazi Germany, the issue has been raised of restoring the wartime name of the southern Russian city.

Putin, quoted by state news agency RIA, was asked at a forum about restoring the city's former name - a sensitive issue in view of the association with the horrors of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin's nearly three-decade rule.

8 years passed between Yanukovich’s flight from impeachment in 2014 to Putin’s invasion in 2022. In that time, about 14,000 people, including 3,000 civilians, died on both sides as Putin attempted to expand his foothold in Ukraine, and Ukraine attempted to thwart Putin’s efforts and recover lost territory.

For both sides, these skirmishes might be seen as a warm-up for the full-scale Russian invasion to come. It was an opportunity to refine tactics, find out what worked and what didn’t, get men blooded and working in cohesive groups that effective military units needed. For Ukraine, draftees and reservists got a realistic workout that the traditional annual call-ups normally wasted in drudgery. The rapid response of experienced draftees and reservists in the first days of Russia’s invasion, despite being outgunned, helped prevent the fall of Kiev and Kharkov.

The run-up to the Holocaust lasted 8 years, starting in 1933. By 1941, about 1m people lay dead, far from combat zones. From 1941 to 1945, an additional 11m people were killed, including 6m Jews.

No Jews have been systematically murdered in Ukraine starting with Russia’s small scale invasion in 2014. Even today, over 3 years into Ukraine’s invasion, no Jews have been targeted by Ukraine. The only targeting of Jews has been by Russia, which calls Zelensky a Nazi, and demands that a Jewish leader elected by the biggest margin in Ukrainian history, whose leading opponent, Poroshenko, was also believed to have Jewish blood, be removed from power.

On this very thread we have that marcus puke with Nazi talk about Asians. That was the Nazi lie about the Soviet peoples that they used to justify invading and enslaving them.

They were optimistic for a while. They arrogantly thought that Russians are smart and Americans are dumb, so obviously Russians will be an instant business success after getting rid of communism.

It turned out that they’re not as smart as they thought, and the successful nations are not as dumb either.

Then they turned to an ideology of resentment. In America it is called Critical Race Theory and their version might as well be called Critical Russian Theory.

They’re now told how they are the eternal victims and how it is never their fault and others keep them down and owe them.

Just as with American blacks who fall for it, this makes Russians resentful losers unable to help themselves, but it also makes them easily controllable.
